Process
The process of this project started with research and analysis (surveys, usability tests, competitive benchmarking, affinity diagram). With the results of the research and analysis, I was able to make a website for the hotel booking process. The survey stated that almost 100% of the users prefer a website (instead of using an app) when booking a hotel. Another frequently mentioned complaint was that a lot of hotel-websites feel rushed and uncomfortable, because they are overflowing with pushy sales-buttons and spam-like filters. A third big complaint was that they want to pick their way to find a hotel in the search results - looking on a map or scrolling through a list.
Next to defining the biggest pain points of other hotel websites, the next step was creating a website with a smooth booking process where the user did not experience the pain points that were mentioned during the research. I was able to make a website which looked simple and clear, without any feelings of being pushed into booking a hotel. The user had the choice to pick their own preference when looking at the search results - checking a list or looking at the map.
After making a high fidelity prototype it was again tested with users. The test showed positive results, users were happy with the clear information instead of the feeling of a simple flow when booking a hotel. When the last feedback was processed, I made clear annotations for the developers and the prototype could be used to get to the final result of a real website.
